What We Actually Do
We work on garage doors and openers, and that's it. Broken torsion springs, snapped cables, off-track panels, worn rollers, opener motors that hum but don't lift, and the sensors that stop a door from closing right. A lot of what we see comes down to the age of the house.
Housing in this part of Bergen County was mostly built between 1938 and 1996, with the median landing around 1960, so a big share of the doors and openers we touch are older hardware that was never swapped out when the house changed hands. That means original torsion setups, doors sized for garages built before modern spring balance standards, and openers from an earlier generation of drive systems. We service homes in Wyckoff and the towns immediately around it, including Franklin Lakes, Midland Park, and Waldwick, all within a couple of miles, plus the wider ring out to Ramsey, Oakland, and Ridgewood.
If your door won't open, won't close, or makes a noise that wasn't there last winter, that's the kind of call we take. We don't do siding, windows, or general handyman work, even if it's attached to the same wall as your garage.

What We Will Not Do
We don't touch structural garage work - framing, headers, or anything that means opening up drywall. We don't install or service gate operators, commercial rolling doors, or anything outside residential garage doors and openers. We also won't tell you a torsion spring job is a five-minute fix; it isn't, and anyone who says it is hasn't done one.
Here's the honest limitation: if your door and opener are both original to a house built in the 1960s stock common around here, sometimes the parts you'd need to match the existing track width or drum size aren't something we carry on the truck, and that means a short wait on a special order rather than a same-day close-out. We'd rather tell you that up front than have you sit in a driveway. We also don't do free re-visits for problems unrelated to the original call - a new issue is a new call.
Who Turns Up
Someone who works on garage doors for a living, driving a truck stocked for the repairs that come up most in this area - spring replacement, cable repair, roller and track work, and opener diagnostics. Given the age of the housing stock here, a fair share of jobs involve hardware that's decades old, so whoever comes out is used to working around older torsion systems and openers that don't match anything currently sold in a box store.
Winters here run cold enough that steel springs and cables see real stress from the temperature swing, and that shows up as sudden failures in January more than July. The person at your door will look at the actual setup in your garage, tell you what's broken, what it costs to fix, and whether fixing it makes more sense than replacing it - not upsell you into a full door if a spring and a service call will do the job.
